Our Mission & Vision
Our mission is to provide a forever home for as many senior shelter animals as possible. We envision a sanctuary where every rescued animal finds love, safety, and a chance to thrive. Join us in our journey to transform lives!
What started as a young girl’s pure love for animals has evolved into a woman’s unwavering life dedication.
Our mission is to establish a lifelong sanctuary for senior and hard-to-placeshelter cats and dogs, offering them a permanent, loving home. At Tucked Paws Sanctuary & Rescue Inc, we believe every companion animal deserves a life filled with comfort, security, and affection. We are committed to providing these often-overlooked animals with the care and attention they need to live out their years with dignity and joy. By creating this safe haven, we aim to ensure that every resident enjoys the peace that only a forever home can provide.
-
AWARENESS
When it comes to adoptions, seniors are often overlooked in favor of younger animals and end up spending extended periods of time in shelters, or until the end of their life. Highlighting the adoption of seniors serves to correct misconceptions about their adoptability, health, quality of life, and value they would bring to a new family.
-
ADVOCACY
Advocacy plays a critical role in highlighting the need to reduce senior pet surrenders due to age, and increase the adoption rate of seniors into second chance homes.
By strengthening adoption profiles and changing the narrative around senior
animals, the focus becomes enrichment of life rather than end of life. -
EDUCATION & SUPPORT
Shelter animals may have complex and often, traumatic backgrounds. Additionally, senior shelter animals are dealing with abandonment and heartbreak which are detrimental to their mental, emotional, and physical health. Through knowledge and education the pet-owner relationship is not only enriched, preventive surrendering measures - as well as financial and medical resources - can facilitate permanent ownership, decreasing the number of senior animals in shelters.
Creating a Home-Like Sanctuary
Although we are preparing a sanctuary to be the last home for any animal we take in, we are also open to adoptions under the right circumstances. With that in mind it’s important to design the sanctuary to reflect a home’s environment to ensure that every pet is properly socialized and familiar with a domestic setting even if they’ve never lived in one before.
We are grateful for any gently used furniture, pet supplies, and other items that will help to furnish our sanctuary. If you are within Delaware Valley we are happy to coordinate delivery.
Donations, Grants and Our Fundraising Store
Donations play a crucial role in our sanctuary's fundraising efforts, alongside grants and sponsorships that help sustain our mission. In addition to these traditional funding sources, we have worked diligently to establish a store that provides a consistent revenue stream. This store not only offers essential supplies and merchandise but also serves as a platform for spreading awareness about our sanctuary and animals we care for. By diversifying our income sources, we aim to ensure long-term support for our initiatives and the wellbeing of the animals we serve.
